Alert: The lone star tick, which is an aggressive human biter and transmitter of several human diseases, is rapidly expanding its range in Connecticut and the entire Northeast, according scientists at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.

If you’ve ever owned a dog, worked in the yard, taken a walk through the woods or gone camping, you’ve probably encountered at least one tick during the course of your lifetime.

And you probably know at least a few facts about ticks—that they’re blood-suckers; that they feed on mammals, including humans; and that they sometimes carry Lyme Disease.

Ticks can be very damaging to the health and well being of family members and pets. Instead of fighting the problem with harsh chemicals, the tick control products that we use have a low environmental impact and are the safest products available on the market. The pros at Nature’s Choice Lawn Care have the experience and know-how when it comes to controlling ticks around your home and gardens.

Ticks are most commonly found in the areas between lawns and any wooded areas – this is where you would most often find the deer tick. Our team of professionals will cover these high risk areas as well as the lawn area to eradicate ticks on your landscape.

What Natures Choice Lawn Care Does

At Nature’s Choice Lawn Care we treat for ticks on your property by using a comprehensive, integrated Tick control plan. While the specific requirements of a control plan are situational and will vary, the following control actions and recommendations will be factored into your plan:

  1. Inspection & Identification
The first step our technician takes is to inspect the property areas to be sprayed–  since Ticks can be brought inside on clothing and by pets.
  2. Tick Habitat Modifications
Using the inspection findings of your yard, we will recommend areas to be sprayed. In addition, we will recommend removing protective sites such as heavy, thick leaf litter, thick ground cover around the home’s perimeter and protective areas such as fallen logs, firewood piles, and rock piles. Habitat modifications should target areas frequented by pets and family members, And we will spray the entire property instead of just Perimeters as most companies do.
  3. Chemical Applications Or Organic Applications are offered to the Home Owner
The plan also identifies locations where Tick control products can be used effectively in accordance with approved instructions on the product label. Areas the technician will focus on include ground cover vegetation, areas where the lawn meets the woods, ornamental plantings, etc.
  4. Our Tick Control Program Consist of 4 Applications per Season
